Hydraulic spring

From the hydraulic cylinder to the hydraulic spring

Hydraulic cylinders are normally used to generate force and movement utilizing hydraulic pressure and, in some cases, volumetric flow. However, exerting pressure on a hydraulic cylinder and restricting the oil flowing out of the hydraulic cylinder creates a resistance similar to a spring.

Controllable force

Springs are characterized by a changing force as it progresses over its travel distance, and by a designed force that cannot be changed. In hydraulic cylinders, however, this force remains constant. And the force can be changed to suit almost any requirement with the appropriate control technology. Depending on the application, this can open up entirely new possibilities. E.g. in sheet metal forming.
