Children's and Youth Clinic in Freiburg
Work on a unique project by the "Initiative für unsere Kinder- und Jugendklinik Freiburg e. V." (Initiative for our Freiburg Clinic for Children and Youths) started in 2012: Architects joined forces with patients, parents, and clinic staff to create an "environment of healing and support". They created spaces that allow the "Real Heroes" to live more normal lives. These include an "anti-waiting room", a "room for development and normalcy", and a "security and care room". Creating this environment cost a lot of money. The initiative has many ideas to raise it by creating awareness and collecting donations. And that is how the "Real Heroes Arena" project was conceived. AHP Merkle, the sponsor of EHC Freiburg e. V., waived the naming rights and thus enabled the stadium to be named "Echte Helden Arena" (Real Heroes Arena). This name continuously draws attention to the new children and youth clinic's project, and every time the name is mentioned, people think of the "Real Heroes" in the children and youth clinic. The sponsorship is complemented by many projects so that this initiative lives up to its purpose: To help get the required funds to set up 'extras' in the new children and youth clinic.
